This Privacy Policy explains how RealPower.TV (“RealPower.TV,” “we,” “us”) handles information collected through RealPower.TV and smmnetwork.org (the “Site”). For information about cookies specifically, see our Cookie Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect information you provide directly, such as your name and email address when you submit a comment, use our Contact page, or subscribe to the digital newsprint via Substack. We also collect information automatically through cookies and analytics tools, such as pages viewed and general location.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to operate the Site, respond to inquiries, deliver newsprint content, understand how the Site is used, and improve our shows and articles.
3. Cookies
The Site uses cookies for essential site function, embedded YouTube video playback, and analytics/advertising. You can manage your preferences through the cookie consent banner or see full detail on our Cookie Policy page.
4. Third-Party Services
The Site uses third-party services including YouTube (video embeds), Google Analytics, Google Search Console and Google Site Kit (site analytics and search performance), Google Ads and Google AdSense (advertising), Brevo (email delivery and signup forms), Substack (newsprint delivery), and NationBuilder, used by Voices for a Better Future PAC (event registration and contributions). Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing the data it collects.
5. Advertising and Audiences
We advertise RealPower.TV on third-party platforms, including Google, to reach readers who may be interested in our journalism, our shows, and the digital newsprint.
Sharing contact information with advertising platforms. We may share contact information you have given us — such as your email address — with advertising platforms including Google, in order to (a) show you our advertising, (b) avoid showing you advertising you do not need, such as subscription ads if you already subscribe, and (c) help those platforms identify other people with similar interests who may want our reporting. Where a platform supports it, this information is transmitted in a hashed, non-readable form. We do not sell this information, and advertising platforms are not permitted to use it for any purpose other than delivering our own advertising.
What we do not do. We do not target advertising on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, health status, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or any other sensitive category, and we do not permit advertising platforms to build such categories from information we provide.
Information collected at events. Information collected at in-person events — sign-in sheets, registration tables, and similar — is collected for the purpose stated at that event by the organization hosting it. Where an event is hosted or co-hosted by Voices for a Better Future PAC, that information belongs to and is governed by the PAC, not by RealPower.TV. We do not add event sign-in information to RealPower.TV advertising audiences unless the person has separately subscribed to RealPower.TV through the Site and received the notice on this page.
Your choices. You can opt out of this use at any time by emailing us through our Contact page and asking to be removed from advertising audiences; we will remove you and will not share your information with advertising platforms again. You can also control personalized advertising directly at Google through My Ad Center, and manage cookie preferences through the consent banner on this Site or our Cookie Policy page. Unsubscribing from the digital newsprint also removes you from advertising audiences built from our subscriber list.
6. Political Contributions
Donations and sign-ups made through links to Voices for a Better Future PAC are processed on that organization’s own platform, not by RealPower.TV. Those contributions are not tax-deductible. Paid for by Voices for a Better Future PAC; not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.
Contributions made to support the RealPower.TV newsroom are separate from political contributions. They support independent journalism from RealPower.TV, are not tax-deductible, and are not political contributions.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers who help us operate the Site and the digital newsprint (such as hosting, email, and analytics providers), with advertising platforms as described in Section 5, and when required by law. We do not share your information with unrelated third parties for their own marketing.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information collected through the Site, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Your Rights and Choices
You may unsubscribe from the digital newsprint at any time using the link in any email, and may request that we delete personal information you’ve submitted by contacting us.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the most recent revision.
